Fecal immunochemical test (FIT) kits
Fecal immunochemical test (FIT) kits for colon cancer screening are now available at nursing stations and health centres in Sioux Lookout and Area. A FIT is a free, at-home test that can help find colon cancer early. If colon cancer is found early and treated there is a 90% chance that it can be cured.
You should get checked with FIT every two years if you:
- Are ages 50 to 74
- Have no parent, sibling or child who has been diagnosed with colon cancer
- Have no symptoms of colon cancer
