SLFNHA makes significant contribution to MRI campaign

Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority (SLFNHA) is pleased to donate $100,000 to the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre (SLMHC) Foundation’s MRI campaign.

As a health service provider and advocate for First Nations health in the region, SLFNHA recognizes the need to have services closer to home and to ease the travel of burden many clients endure, especially from remote communities.

“There are simply too many obstacles and hurdles to access equitable health care for clients from northern First Nations. We need services closer to home and we need to support each other to make this goal a reality,” says Sonia Isaac-Mann, President and CEO of SLFNHA. “We fully support this campaign and will continue to strengthen our partnership with SLMHC to meet the needs of clients.”

The SLMHC Foundation kicked off its MRI fundraising campaign in December 2023 to raise $7 million to make a locally available MRI a reality within the Sioux Lookout region.

“We are grateful for this significant contribution towards the Foundation’s MRI campaign. It’s been exciting to see organizations, community groups, and people within our region bring us closer to having an MRI in Sioux Lookout,” says Dean Osmond, President and CEO of SLMHC. “The implementation of an MRI unit will help improve health care services for the patients in our region.”
