Case and contact management has started and is underway in all cases. Preliminary investigations suggest that all are related to travel outside of communities, except for the Nibinamik case. The SLFNHA Preventing Infectious Diseases (PID) team will continue to support communities and closely monitor the situation.
We are emphasizing the importance of deciding to get the COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available in your community. We encourage all who are eligible to get vaccinated in the upcoming program: Operation Remote Immunity. The vaccine will: protect you, protect your loved ones, slow the spread of the virus, and help end the pandemic.
We also encourage adhering to public health measures and abiding by the recent Stay- At-Home Order, as declared by the province of Ontario. This includes: physical distancing, handwashing, wearing masks/face covering in public where physical distancing cannot be maintained, staying in our social bubbles as much as possible, and avoiding unnecessary travel. We now emphasize the importance of avoiding the 3 Cs: close contact, crowds and closed spaces.
