Nodin Mental Health Services was funded to employ and supervise a selected amount (14) community-based children and youth Mental Health and Addiction Workers. The funding supported the hiring of workers to be placed in the high needs First Nation communities served by SLFNHA. The supervisors are based in the Nodin office in Sioux Lookout, Ontario. Communities include:

The goal is to increase the number of served First Nations children and youth, who are dealing with mental health and addictions issues; improve functioning, increase the number of culturally appropriate supports, and improve the capacity of community-based organizations to meet the need for service in high needs communities.
This service is provided to First Nation children and youth (up to age 18) with identified mental health and/or addiction difficulties including social, emotional, behavioural, adjustment, psychiatric and/or other challenges that affect overall functioning and success. In addition, the counsellors work with the families and other partners as necessary. Direct services may include counselling, therapy, brief intervention, group therapy or other supports and services deemed to be culturally appropriate.
