The Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Advisor is responsible for the ongoing training and user support for the Electronic Medical Records system. This will ensure that Sioux Lookout Regional Physician Services Inc. (SLRPSI) has a supported and sustainable EMR system in place which meets the needs of SLRPSI practitioners, staff and patients.

The EMR Advisor is directly accountable to the Health Records Coordinator.

Salary range starting from $54,520 to a maximum of $66,376/yearly

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education with a focus in computer programs/database
  • Preferred 1-2 years work experience
  • Demonstrated training/teaching skills
  • Ability to create and maintain relevant and easy to understand training materials
  • Medical Terminology and knowledge of Privacy Legislation an asset
  • Knowledge of gathering, compiling and reposting statistical information
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills to convey messages effectively both verbal and written including the ability to explain technical issues in plain language
  • Proven knowledge and skill sin the use of MS Operating systems (Microsoft Outlook, email and internet)
  • Ability to think analytically with well-developed problem solving skills
  • Proven time management skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-task team environment with a diverse group of medical professionals and support staff
  • Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality policies and procedures as they relate to all work in the office and levels of access to the EMR system

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise on the utilization of an electronic medical record database
  • Serves as the subject matter expert on the utilization of EMR systems for all users  
  • Draft and/or recommends changes to applicable policies and procedures
  • Develop training material, provide initial and ongoing training, hands -on-troubleshooting
  • Problem solving support and ensure system use is maximized and implements supplementary training as required
  • Documents user problems, reports major issues to the vendor and shares updates with users
  • Member of EMR working group
  • Research and implement approved innovative EMR practices for system users
