Activity Coordinator

The Activity Coordinator develops and delivers a creative program of daily recreational and social activities to meet the needs of hostel clients. This position requires flexible hours.


  • Minimum grade 12 education and/or 2 years’ experience in recreation
  • Diploma in Recreation and Leisure is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate and implement group and individual activities
  • Fluent in one of the First Nation languages of the Sioux Lookout District and able to interpret effectively between English and the language is required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and an ability to work with people in a service environment
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the services provided by Client Services Department
  • Knowledge of the people, culture and health priorities of the First Nation communities in the Sioux Lookout district
  • A current certificate in CPR and First Aid (or willingness to complete training)


  •     Develop weekly and monthly plans for activities
  •     Visit hostel clients daily to identify and respond to their needs
  •     Provide interpreting services for the hostel clients as required
  •     Prepare and post a weekly schedule of events and activities and distribute up-to-date information and bulletins in the hostel
  •     Collect, display and distribute relevant events information and resource material for clients
  •     Carry out other duties as requested by the Client Services Director
  •      Performs other duties as directed
