Miichim, the Traditional Foods Program, offers traditional foods to patients at Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre. These patients often are clients at the Hostel and benefit greatly from this unique program!
Traditional foods are offered to all patients once a week and are prepared in such a way to ensure each meal fits with the majority of their nutritional diets. They also offer a selection of premade frozen Miichim meals for patients who are interested in keeping their traditional diets on a daily basis. All traditional “uninspected” food is donated to the Miichim program by local hunters, gatherers and outfitters. These donations would include such food as: moose, caribou, small game, whitefish or walleye, geese, ducks, other waterfowl, blueberries and wild rice.
Always Seeking Donations
This program is always seeking donations of the above listed foods. If you are interested in donating, please contact the Miichim program at: (807) 737-6561 or (807) 737-6562.
