First Nations and Inuit Health Information System

What is First Nations and Inuit Health Information System (FNIHIS)?

FNIHIS is an information technology tool which supports health program planning and development, data management and capacity building. It ultimately leads to control over health information and improves the health status of First Nations and Inuit.

It is a confidential database which consists of four subsystems:

  • Client Core Information
  • Immunization Records
  • Tests/Exams
  • Client Mortality

A program of Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority (SLFNHA), FNIHIS services 31 First Nation communities in the Sioux Lookout area.

Every month, the nursing stations in each community serviced receive an immunization schedule which details all vaccinations due, the clients’ names, date of birth and any other relevant information pertaining to his/her vaccinations.

FNIHIS is a vital part of the health and well-being of our communities.
